Ayaka sings for Hiro's new CM
Mizushima Hiro (27) is the new image character for Morinaga's long-time bestseller 'Morinaga Milk Cocoa'. The 'Sunrise' series commercials will air nationwide from 25th October. His wife, singer-songwriter Ayaka (23), who recently announced her comeback, was offered to provide the accompanying music and she accepted, composing a tune that she hopes will warm the hearts of those who view the CM.The CM was shot in Maui, Hawaii. At an elevation of 3000m, the temperature on location at Haleakala National Park hovered at about 4°. In the CM, Mizushima warms himself up drinking hot cocoa as he waits for sunrise. As the light breaks through a sea of clouds, a little angel appears before him and they sit enjoying the cocoa together.

Ayaka announces comeback!
Singer-songwriter Ayaka (23) has announced her comeback for 2012. Ayaka had put her singing career on hold to concentrate on treatment for Basedow's Disease. Currently, she is composing music and is scheduled to release a CD next spring under her own independent label. Making her last appearance in Kouhaku in 2009, there is also talk that she will appear as a surprise guest at this year's Kouhaku. According to her agency, the timing of her comeback is due to her condition stabilising and Ayaka's strong will to return to singing. They also stated that preparations are going smoothly for the release of her new music. As to why she is not attached to a major record label, they said the choice was made because this was the best way for Ayaka to communicate her thoughts and feelings to the fans.

Mizushima Hiro denies reports he is retiring from the entertainment world
Mezamashi TV's Tokudane segment contacted Mizushima Hiro asking him about leaving talent agency Ken-on, retiring from showbiz and becoming a writer. "I'm bewildered by the inaccuracy of the reports," he commented.According to Mezamashi TV, Mizushima stated that reports citing that Ayaka is still attached to Ken-on is not true and that she had left Ken-on after her performance at the Kouhaku last year. Furthermore, they are starting up a company to manage Ayaka's music and Mizushima is not stopping acting work.
Information given out by Ken-on and other reports
- Ayaka is just taking a break, she is still with Ken-on.
- Mizushima Hiro is no longer interested in being an actor, he wants to concentrate on writing.
- Ayaka and Mizushima Hiro are setting up a company to manage their work.
Mizushima Hiro's comments
- Ayaka left Ken-on after her Kouhaku performance last year.
- Mizushima Hiro will continue with creative works and that includes acting.
- Ayaka and Mizushima Hiro are not setting up a company to manage their work. The company will be set up only to manage Ayaka's music.
- The two of them will do their best without being attached to a talent agency.
(24th September) Edit : Multiple news reports are citing that the clarification came from an email exchange with Tokudane's Ogura Tomoaki. Mainichi, Sports Hochi and Asahi reported that the email exchange was with Ayaka while Daily Sports Online reported that it was with Hiro.

Why did Mizushima Hiro quit?
The sudden resignation of Mizushima Hiro from Ken-on has left fans in shock. Why did he leave his agency without prior notice to the fans who had supported him all this time? Was he made to leave or did he come to the decision on his own? Inquiries made to Ken-on were not replied as the staff in charge was supposedly absent. So we turn to entertainment reporters to get some answers."We're told that it was Mizushima's own decision to leave. The reason given was that he had an interest in writing novels and such from a while ago and he wants to concentrate on that now. But it's not rare for people in the entertainment industry to write books while continuing their work. Gekidan Hitori, comedians Shinagawa Shoji and Chihara Junior are busy with work and they still write. So in the case of Mizushima Hiro, it's just a case of Ken-on giving him the boot. This reason is just an excuse so that he will not join another talent agency for a fixed period of time. Actually Mizushima himself does not have much interest in being an actor, he does not want to make his living in the entertainment world. A graduate of Keio University and an intelligent man, he probably doesn't want to live in the unstable world of show business and will look for other means of making a living." The cause of the dismissal is probably his marriage last year to singer Ayaka, also from Ken-on. After about half a year of dating, they married without informing the agency. That undoubtedly angered the management and it's not hard to imagine that the relationship between the agency and him has changed.
On the other hand, there are many talent agencies that would be willing to take Mizushima in.
"There are many people who think Mizushima Hiro can still grow as an actor. Maybe many fans from his Kamen Rider days are turned off by his marriage but demand for him as an ikemen actor is still strong. It's not an impossibility that his former agency might put up some form of hindrance if he joins another agency but Matsushita Nao who got her big break in Gegege no Nyobo (NHK) was also formerly from Ken-on. Under another major talent agency now, she has managed to continue work without problems. A strong possibility is Avex, which is fortifying its roster of actors. I mean Avex even took in Sawajiri Erika, so it must be a pretty open-minded company. Anyway at the moment, what is on the agenda seems to be just Mizushima and Ayaka spending their days together as a married couple without any outsiders. They seem like they're really close. I'm sure he had discussed this with Ayaka in detail." (Sports paper editor)
It will be a waste for Mizushima to retire when his days as an actor is just beginning but we all hope for the best in the couple's future.

Mizushima Hiro Leaves Ken-On

Popular actor Mizushima Hiro left major talent agency Ken-On in a quick resignation on the 20th. According to Ken-On, Mizushima has always aspired to be a writer and he had expressed this desire to them over some time. His profile from Ken-On's website has already been taken down.
In February 2009, Mizushima married singer Ayaka, also from Ken-On. The movie BECK that opened 4th September which he starred in was a hit.

Hiro & Ayaka's Disneyland Date
22nd February 2009. It's been more than a year since Mizushima Hiro and Ayaka registered their marriage, sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry and among fans. With Ayaka taking a break from work at the end of last year, they now have plenty of time to spend together."They actually wanted to go for their honeymoon in 2009 but Mizushima was very busy filming for his drama. For all his hard work though, he earned himself a month off." (TV personnel)
Apparently during that break, they visited Disneyland too.
"The place was packed as it usually is on a holiday, it's not uncommon to wait as long as an hour for a ride. While I was waiting, I noticed a tall guy wearing a cap at the entrance. When I looked more carefully, I realized it was Mizushima-san. He was gorgeous, everyone around noticed him. (Eyewitness)
Mizushima Hiro being easily noticeable is not a surprise, given his celebrity aura. But of course he wouldn't be visiting Disneyland all by himself.
"Next to him was Ayaka-san, who looked like she was enjoying herself immensely. Swinging a Mickey plushie in her hand, she pointed to a ride and said,"Let's ride that next." Mizushima-san was looking at her smiling. (Same eyewitness)
Even with the long waiting times, it seemed that they went from one attraction to the next.
"From the start, Mizushima-san walked a step behind Ayaka-san, following her lead. It looked like he was just going along with where Ayaka-san wanted to go." (Same eyewitness)
Mizushima seems to the devoted husband, never failing to accompany Ayaka to her regular hospital check-ups as well. He must be a great source of emotional support for her too, on her road to recovery.

Ayaka at Kouhaku
At 11:15pm, Ayaka (22) who will take an indefinite break from her singing career appeared on stage at NHK's 60th Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Wearing a red dress, she addressed viewers before her performance.
"For me, singing is an essential part of life. For all of you who have always supported my singing and music, I will put my feelings of gratitude to you with this song."
With that, she sang her hit song 'Minna Sora no Shita'. Announcer Abe Wataru wished her the best and said,"I hope you return to this stage again someday." Actor Nishida Toshiyuki who is serving as a judge said as he wiped a tear away,"I'm tearing up. The power of songs is the power of life."

Ayaka performed her last solo live performance 'MTV Unplugged ayaka' on 18th November at Osaka-Jo Hall.
This live performance is the biggest that MTV has held so far, with over 200,000 applications for the free concert. Only 10,000 were given invitations to the event. The venue, Osaka Jo-Hall, is where Ayaka watched her first live when she was in 5th grade. Her desire to become an artiste started budding when she watched Janet Jackson in action. As the hall quietened down and silence descended, Ayaka appeared on stage with her new short bob and a black dress.
"I have been looking forward to this day for so long, I'm so happy to see everyone. I will send my thoughts which cannot be put into words into each and every song I sing. Stay with me to the very end!" said Ayaka as she belted out her debut single 'I believe'.
"Osaka-Jo Hall is the place where I first saw my first live, Janet Jackson, when I was in 5th grade. I did not expect that I would stand at this very stage to perform 10 years later." she said, reminiscing.
Halfway through the performance, she did a cover of Michael Jackson's Human Nature. "Michael Jackson was the one that made a strong musical impact on me when I was in 4th Grade. I didn't understand a word he sang, and it was music I have never heard before but it sent an electric jolt through my body. I was sobbing when I watched the movie 'Michael Jackson This Is It'. Today, I will do a cover, putting all the respect I feel for him into his song."
A great applause rang in the hall when the introductory notes to 'Mikazuki' began. Some in the audience could not hold their tears back as Ayaka sang under the spotlight. "Thank you", she said, then "Let's stand!" The audience heeded her call and moved to the rhythm together. Ayaka pointed to the fans one by one as she called out "Thank you." As she sang her last song 'WINDING ROAD' the audience of 10,000 sang in unison. "My whole life, I will never forget this moment." "I love you." "Thank you!" Ayaka smiled at the audience as she sang and thanked them.
After enthusiastic applause and calls for her, Ayaka came back for an encore.
"I did feel a little uneasy before it began, but with everyone's power, this has turned out to be a really great live. What I am today, is because of all your support. Today is my last live before my break but as I sing, I also feel that this is the start of a new beginning. I hope to take things slowly step by step at my own pace. I will go through everyday with the thought of seeing everyone again," Ayaka said as fans shouted back "We will wait for you!"
Finally she sang the last single before her break 'Minna Sora no Shita'. Ayaka sang with her hand on her chest, as if to engrave her feelings in the hearts of the audience. The performance ended late into the night as Ayaka continued to wave to the crowd, smiling and thanking them.
Her husband, Mizushima Hiro, was among the audience.

As she sang her last song 'WINDING ROAD' the audience of 10,000 sang in unison. "My whole life, I will never forget this moment." "I love you." "Thank you!" Ayaka smiled at the audience as she sang and thanked them.
After enthusiastic applause and calls for her, Ayaka came back for an encore.
"I did feel a little uneasy before it began, but with everyone's power, this has turned out to be a really great live. What I am today, is because of all your support. Today is my last live before my break but as I sing, I also feel that this is the start of a new beginning. I hope to take things slowly step by step at my own pace. I will go through everyday with the thought of seeing everyone again," Ayaka said as fans shouted back "We will wait for you!"
Finally she sang the last single before her break 'Minna Sora no Shita'. Ayaka sang with her hand on her chest, as if to engrave her feelings in the hearts of the audience. The performance ended late into the night as Ayaka continued to wave to the crowd, smiling and thanking them.
Her husband, Mizushima Hiro, was among the audience.

Having faith in each other, they hold on to each others hand steadily. Even as their secret leaked out, the two of them faced up to the public squarely and now they are getting over the hurdle of her illness together with determination.
In April this year, Mizushima Hiro (25) and Ayaka (21) held a press conference to reveal their marriage. In tears, Ayaka revealed that she had the autoimmune disorder Basedow's Disease. Hiro stated this as the reason for their speedy marriage after less than a year of dating.
Half a year has passed by since then. The two of them are often seen together at a hospital in Tokyo specializing in thyroid gland disorder. Ayaka, who is planning a break in her career by the end of the year to concentrate on medical treatment, visits the hospital at fixed intervals. Even with his busy schedule filming for Fuji TV's drama 'Tokyo DOGS', Hiro makes time for her. After every treatment session that lasts for about an hour, he will grasp his wife's hand tightly as they leave the hospital together, just as he had promised to 'protect' her.

According to authorized personnel, she suffered a flare-up of the Basedow's disease she is suffering from and was checked by her physician in Tokyo. The doctor advised her to rest. Ayaka herself was said to have wanted to go on with the performance but decided to cancel after weighing in his advise. At her official site, the agency stated that a make-up performance will be considered upon Ayaka's recovery and discussions with her.

With a Best Album set for release on 23rd September and a planned break from work by the end of the year, Ayaka held her final public performance 'Ayaka Symphonic Concert 2009' at Tokyo International Forum Hall A on 20th August.
The concert was backed by 72 members, including an orchestra of 67. After a solemn orchestra performance of 'I believe', Ayaka appeared dressed in a white tunic and a black long skirt, starting off with 'Koikogarete Mita Yume'. "Being showered with the sound of the orchestra is like being bathed in Mother Nature. Even during rehearsals I was moved and have been looking forward to us working together,"said Ayaka. The hall then echoed with the music of the orchestra and Ayaka's singing voice.
"This song was popular with many people and became a hit, a precious song,"she said introducing the song 'Mikazuki'. Lighted by blue illumination as she sang, basking in the spotlight, it looked like a crescent moon (mikazuki) was really shining down on Ayaka. The tune and the arrangement of the orchestra made it a dynamic and moving performance.
For the second part, Ayaka appeared on stage in a red dress. She belted out 'Okaeri', Yume wo Mikata ni' and 'Arigatou'. "I wrote this song a year and a half ago but it fits me now perfectly. No matter how many times I say 'Arigatou', it's not enough and my emotions overflow." With that, voices from here and there in the audience could be heard shouting,"Ayaka, arigatou!"
"Singing this song makes you feel like opening up to people," said Ayaka as she sang 'Minna Sora no Shita' from her latest single. When she finished singing, the orchestra members presented her with a surprise gift, each personally coming up and handing over a red rose. Surprised, Ayaka was moved to tears.
"I'm overjoyed. My face is all soppy (from the tears). Thank you very much," she said, to thunderous applause from the hall.
"Many things have happened, and many will happen from now on but I will never forget my original intentions. I want to believe in myself and walk forward. I want to savour the present moment and link them with my future self. I'd like to show my feelings of gratitude to everyone with a song." The last song was her first single 'I believe'. The hall quieted down to silence as a single piano played. Without a microphone, Ayaka's voice singing a capella reverberated in the hall, leaving the audience in tears.
"Let's meet again! This has been Ayaka!" Smiling as she waved, Ayaka left the stage. It was a 14-song concert that charmed the 5000 in attendance.

First live performance after marriage announcement
Newly-wed Ayaka live performance "I'm sorry to have caused so much trouble."
Singer Ayaka (21) performed at Cosmo Earth Conscious Act Earth Day concert which aims to raise awareness of environment issues through music at the Budoukan on 22nd April. In her first solo live since appearing in a press conference with actor Mizushima Hiro to announce their marriage, she sang 'Okaeri' and 'Yume wo Mikata ni', among others, singing a total of 17 songs. She confessed that she did not feel like she had Basedow's disease as she delivered her powerful performances.
After singing 2 songs, there were calls of "Congratulations!" from the crowd to which she responded "Thank you," glowing as she smiled. "I really feel like I have caused so much trouble. From now on, I will do my best one thing at a time. I ask for your support as always."

Mizushima Hiro and Ayaka, we have registered our marriage on 22nd February 2009.
The sudden report seemed to have surprised fans but we considered marriage the natural extension to our love and we decided, with mutual support, the two of us will move forward together.
We are still young and inexperienced, from now on too we will give our all in work and show the results.

On the same day (3rd April) that Sports Nippon revealed on its cover that they are registering their marriage on the 13th, Mizushima Hiro and Ayaka held a press conference at TBS's Akasaka. "Ayaka and I, Mizushima Hiro registered our marriage on the 22nd of February 2009. We wanted to begin our life together. It is our hope to convey this to everyone and our fans and we hold this interview today," said Mizushima, reporting that the marriage has already taken place. Further, there were other circumstances that led to their speedy decision to marry after dating for about half a year; Ayaka is suffering from Basedow's disease.
"We informed our agency on the 1st of April that we had registered our marriage. We now want to convey the news to everyone properly," Mizushima said, facing the press today. "Actually the reason for the quick decision is that Ayaka suffers from a chronic disease and I want to watch over her." Ayaka said,"I found out about my chronic disease the year following my debut. Although I can continue with work if I take the medicine, when there's too much I have shortness of breath and heart palpitations. I cannot sing as much as I like. Actually, today too is a little much..." she said, cutting her words shorter.
"His existence means a lot to me. With this marriage, I hope to take the chance to recover completely. I hope to join the family and support him as his wife. By the end of the year, I'll take a break from work. How long it will be has not been decided, I hope to face up to the illness," said Ayaka, while glancing at Mizushima from time to time. "I want to do my best for the medical treatment, in music and as a wife."
Mizushima proposed to her last autumn with simple words "I want to get married." Ayaka said smiling,"Everything in front of me became white. I thought I was dreaming so I asked him to say it again." The ring sparkling on her left hand was given to her at the end of last year. "I gave the ring to Ayaka-san just before she appeared on Kouhaku, at home. I wanted her to know that the marriage was for real," Mizushima said, wanting to let her have peace at mind.
The illness was not the only reason, the two of them feel like that they're connected from their hearts. "It's hard to say it straight to her face but she is the first person to make me believe in 'a love that has its natural extension to a marriage'. If I let her go, I would regret it," Mizushima said shyly. Ayaka said,"I feel the same. A person I can respect from the bottom of my heart."
Ayaka is not expecting. With a new wife to support him, Mizushima said,"It's a new start. I will do my best in each and every one of my work so that my marriage to Ayaka is seen as something favourable."

プロポーズの言葉はストレートに「結婚して欲しい」と昨年秋ごろに水嶋から。絢香は「目の前が真っ白になりました。夢かと思って聞き直しました」と満面の笑顔で振り返った。この日もしっかり左手の薬指に輝いていた指輪を渡したのは昨年末。水嶋は「絢香さんが紅白に出場する直前に渡しました、自宅で。結婚をより現実的にするために渡しました」と彼女を安心させたという。
病気という一面だけでなく、結婚は2人がしっかり心の底で繋がっているからこそ。水嶋は「面と向かっては言いづらいですけど"恋愛の延長線上に結婚がある"と初めて思わせてくれた人。この人を逃したら後悔する」と照れると、絢香も「私も同じ気持ちです。心から尊敬できる人」と目線を合わせた。
なお、絢香は妊娠はしておらず、新妻を支える水嶋は「新たなスタートだと思っています。絢香と結婚して良かったと思えるように一つ一つの仕事を頑張りたい」と今後に向け夫としての責任感を匂わせていた。

It was revealed on the 2nd of April that popular actor Mizushima Hiro (24), recently ranked Number 1 in the Ikemen Ranking list, and popular singer-songwriter Ayaka (21) are getting married. The two of them began their relationship after a magazine talk together for a magazine last June. They are expected to submit their marriage registration on Mizushima's birthday, the 13th. Getting their big breaks 3 to 4 years after their debut, the two of them, at the height of of their popularity, are going for their goal towards happiness together.
They are in the different fields of acting and singing but in the same agency. They began their acquaintance when they hit it off while doing a talk for the magazine 'mini' last June. According to close friends, they started dating around August.
From the beginning, the romance was a serious one with both mutually keeping marriage in mind. They have already met each other's parents and made formal arrangements on each side. The marriage registration is expected to be submitted on Mizushima's 25th birthday on the 13th. Currently, there are no plans yet for a ceremony and a wedding.
Mizushima spent his childhood, up to middle school in Zurich, Switzerland. Standing at 1.8m, he is a Keio University graduate. With all the necessary characteristics to be popular with women, he has been called the 'super ikemen among ikemens'.
From playing the lead role in TV Asahi's Kamen Rider Kabuto in 2006-2007, to Fuji TV's Zettai Kareshi (2008) and Mei-chan no Shitsuji (this year January to March) among others, he has garnered wide-ranging support from children to housewives. In last month's Oricon Style article 'Ikemens On Your Mind Ranking', he was voted first, beating the likes of Oguri Shun (26) and Eita (26). He topped the 'Favourite Actors Among High School Girls' too.
Ayaka, who debuted in 2006 with her song 'I believe' made history by being the first female singer-songwriter to enter the Oricon Charts in the top 3 on her debut. In the same year, she was presented with the Best New Artist Award. She has participated in NHK's Kouhaku 3 years consecutively. In 2007, her hit song 'Mikazuki' topped the 'Karaoke Request Ranking'. It was covered by Inoue Yousui (60) as well, a song that crosses over generations.
Shining as brightly as the 2 of them are, they dislike being loud in their personal lives. There are no gossip of them dating in popular spots or restaurants, their sightings are limited to frequent sightings of them shopping at supermarkets. Both busy with their careers, they spend their free time away from work at each other's homes, eating home-cooked meals. This seems to be a romance nurtured at home.

一方の絢香は０６年のデビュー曲「Ｉ ｂｅｌｉｅｖｅ」が女性シンガー・ソングライターのデビュー曲として史上初めてオリコンチャートのトップ３入りした歌姫。同年の日本レコード大賞で最優秀新人賞に輝き、ＮＨＫ紅白歌合戦に３年連続で出場中。ヒット曲「三日月」は０７年の年間カラオケリクエストランキングで１位になり、井上陽水（６０）もカバーするなど、世代を超えて歌われている。
華やかに見える２人だが、プライベートでは派手なことが嫌いで、人気スポットや飲食店などでのデート情報はなく、スーパーで買い物している姿がたびたび目撃されている程度。互いに多忙な中、仕事の合間をぬって自宅で手料理を食べながら過ごすアットホームな愛をはぐくんできたようだ。
人気絶頂期に結婚を決意したのも、そんな２人だからこそ選んだ“ささやかな幸せ”。「互いに助け合い、認め合っている理想のカップル」と周囲も祝福している。
◆絢香（あやか）１９８７年（昭６２）１２月１８日、大阪府生まれの２１歳。高校２年時から楽曲製作を開始。デモテープがきっかけとなり、ワーナーミュージックと契約。０５年に上京。０６年１月に「Ｉ ｂｅｌｉｅｖｅ」でデビューし、オリコン初登場３位を記録。同年９月、４作目の「三日月」でオリコン１位を獲得。同年の日本有線大賞などを受賞。１メートル５７。血液型Ｏ。
◆水嶋 ヒロ（みずしま・ひろ）１９８４年（昭５９）４月１３日、東京都生まれの２４歳。慶大環境情報学部に進学後、モデルとして芸能活動開始。０５年に日本テレビ「ごくせん」、０７年にフジテレビ「花ざかりの君たちへ～イケメン♂パラダイス～」などのドラマに出演。５月２３日スタートのＴＢＳドラマ「ＭＲ・ＢＲＡＩＮ」で木村拓哉と共演。１メートル８０。血液型ＡＢ。
