Nakamura Shido and Matsuda Shota reunite for new CM
On 28th February, Nakamura Shido (38) and Matsuda Shota (25) attended the product launch of Suntory's new beverage 'Boss Half & Half'. The drink emphasizes the deliciousness of coffee and milk without the use of sugar. In the CM, Nakamura and Matsuda play Mr Coffee and Mr Milk, a doorman and a porter in a hotel. Comical set-ups without dialogue show the balance of the two working together.
Asked about filming, Matsuda commented. "There wasn't supposed to be any dialogue... but the ad-lib from Shido-san was so amusing I burst out laughing." During a scene, Nakamura let out a howl as he lifted a crate although the whole CM was done in silent movie style. "I was wondering if I could make it to cut as I was desperately holding in my laughter," Matsuda said. The two actors previously worked together on the popular 'Hoso Macho' Protein Water CM series and it showed in the friendly banter they exchanged.
What was Matsuda thinking about during the scene where he was staring at the women? "It was natural... just looking at them in fascination," he replied. Nakamura quipped,"When you say natural, does it mean that when you see a beautiful lady on the street, your face looks like that?" Matsuda replied laughing,"No, I'll hide it. This time it was alright to show the non-conceal version and I really enjoyed it."
The CM goes on air from 1st March.

Liar Game Celebrates 1 Millionth Movie-Goer
On 21st March, Matsuda Shota, Toda Erika and Director Matsuyama Hiroaki took to the stage at Shibuto Cine Tower to celebrate the success of Liar Game The Final Stage. The movie has managed to pull in a million movie-goers since it opened 2 weeks ago. A lucky viewer was presented with a parka autographed by the two stars. The winner, picked by a lottery, is a Matsuda Shota fan. He put the parka on her himself and the ecstatic lady commented,"I feel like I've just used up my entire life's supply of luck." She plans to attend the stage greet in Nagoya as well. Asked about the draw of the movie, she replied,"How cool Shota-kun is in it."
It was also revealed that the movie will be shown abroad; in Hong Kong, Macao, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei. Toda said,"I didn't think of that at all, I'm surprised hearing it now. I'm excited to know what they will think of it." The popularity of Liar Game overseas in not surprising as there were fans around the cast when they were on location in Taiwan for 5 days. Toda mentioned how she heard them saying that they loved Liar Game. Matsuda chipped in,"They were selling pirated copies of Liar Game there. Pretty cheap, about 300 yen. I saw the entire Season 1 for sale."

Liar Game Stage Greet
On 6th March, the stars of 'Liar Game The Final Stage' took to the stage to greet fans on the opening day of the movie. Director Matsuyama Hiroaki joined Toda Erika, Matsuda Shota, Tanabe Seiichi, Kichise Michiko, Suzuki Kousuke and Hamada Mari on stage.
Toda, who plays the painfully honest Kanzaki Nao, has repeatedly been taunted by Suzuki's character Kinoko with his trademark "Baka da yo nee" whenever her naivety is exposed. "That line wasn't in the script. When it was just screamed into my ear so suddenly, I got such a shock,"she confessed. Her reaction to being called a 'baka' wasn't an act after all and now that it's over she said with relief,"I'm glad I won't be called a baka anymore."
Suzuki though, quickly defended himself. "No, it definitely was in the script. I wouldn't just say 'Baka da yo nee' out of the blue, right?" The audience obviously liked the line though because they requested him to say it again and cheered when he complied.
The audience were also given the chance to take part in the 'Garden of Eden Game' featured in the movie. The 502 people in the audience had red, silver and gold apple cutouts with them and were told that if everyone were to put up the red one, they would all receive a special postcard set. However, if a lone gold or silver apple were to appear, that one person will receive travel vouchers worth 100,000 yen. The game is void with any other outcome.
Toda appealed,"Let's all show red!" The result? 499 red, 2 gold and 1 silver. As the audience booed the 'betrayers', the Akiyama in Shota confidently spoke up,"There's no way it was going to be all red, I was sure of that." Toda also replied in character,"For a moment I thought there were only red ones, and then I saw the glint of gold. I believed in you. What a pity."
The movie is now showing nationwide.

Matsuda Shota tackles juggling
A new CM for UHA e-ma Throat Candy starring actor Matsuda Shota (24) will start airing on the 6th. While the previous CM had Shota tap dancing, the second in the series has him trying out another new experience. Under the guidance of pro juggler Morita Tomohiro, Shota was able to juggle 3 objects within 15 minutes on the first day of practice. Besides practicing in the studio, he also did some on his own at home during his free time. On the day of the shoot, he was still enthusiastically juggling the throat candy cases in the corner before filming started. With all the work he had put in, he said confidently,"I'm not that nervous anymore." On camera, he moved naturally and the shoot wrapped up without a hitch.

Nakamura Shido (37) and Matsuda Shota (24) are back battling the Gori Macho in the 3rd installment of Suntory's popular Protein Water ads. The 'Alleluia' version has the Hoso Macho team (Slim Macho) battling the Gori Macho (Gorilla Macho) team in the familiar dance-off, this time on an 80's disco era dance floor.
It has been half a year since their last shoot, but it took only one rehearsal before the two of them were back in the groove. Shido showed off his unique dance moves between takes, shaking his hips from side to side while maintaining a perfectly straight face. The director was so taken in by the comic disparity, he incorporated the moves into the commercial. Shido commented,"Back in high school, I used to make my friends laugh with that move. It brings back memories."
With this being their third CM together, Shido and Shota seem to be getting along well. Referring to the gaudy outfits they had on, Shota asked him,"Shall we go for a drink, just like this?" Shido quipped,"Sounds great, let's go for yakitori too."
The new CM airs from 9th March.

Weekly entertainment magazine, Oricon Style, out on the 27th, has a feature 'The New Ikemens Illustrated' where the results of an ikemen ranking survey are revealed. The Number 1 'ikemen on your minds' is the drama Mei-chan no Shitsuji's Mizushima Hiro.
Voted in first place is Mizushima Hiro, who plays every girl's dream butler. "I was charmed by the drama Mei-chan. I think that Mizushima Hiro who suited the role so well is number one." (22, female) "He has appeal, and he acts naturally." (18, male) "He looks good, is pretty smart, and speaks English fluently. So overwhelmingly, he's the best." (28, female). Handling every role given easily, he has acting talent and the person himself being a perfect ikemen are the reasons for his Number 1 spot.

週刊エンタテインメント情報誌『オリ★スタ』が、27日（金）発売の4／6号の特集"気になる男のコを全部見せ! オリ★スタ読者も太鼓判!『新イケメン大図鑑 09Spring冬』"で読者アンケート調査を行い、『気になるイケメンランキング』を発表。「気になるイケメン」第1位には、ドラマ『メイちゃんの執事』（フジ系）で活躍した水嶋ヒロが選ばれた。
『気になるイケメン』第1位に選ばれたのは、ドラマ『メイちゃんの執事』で女のコの理想が詰まった執事を演じた水嶋ヒロ。「『メイちゃん～』でハマりました。こんなに執事姿が似合うのは水嶋ヒロがいちばんだと思います」（22歳・女性）、「華もあるし、演技も自然。今後も期待したい俳優です」（18歳・男性）、「容姿端麗、頭もよくて英語もペラペラなのにちょっと天然って最強すぎ」（28歳・女性）と、あらゆる役をこなす演技力に加え、本人自身の完璧なイケメンぶりが1位の理由のようだ。

Happy that family members are increasing
Matsuda Shota on his brother's marriage, "I'm happy that that our family members are increasing."
Concerning the marriage of model Ohta Lina (21) to his brother Matsuda Ryuhei (25), Matsuda Shota (23) commented,"When our father passed away, our family became smaller. This time, with the two of them married, our family members are increasing and I'm happy. From now on too, I want to get along well with everyone."
Shota should also start thinking of playing his own part in multiplying his family members. This will incite riots but watching the behind the scenes from HYDF, it looks like there's simmering chemistry between him and Mao hiding under the surface （´～｀；）
Here's another photo of his sis-in-law, I think her hair looks better before. She's also known as Rina Ohta but her modelling agency lists her as Lina Ohta.

Ikigami opens in theatres
Director Takimoto's advice to new Prime Minister Aso... the movie Ikigami
Ikigami opens in theatres on the 27th of September and the cast was present at TOHO Cinema Roppongi Hills for the stage greetings.
In this manga turned movie, an ikigami is delivered to selected people to inform them that they have only 24 hours left to live. Matsuda Shota (23) plays the role of Fujimoto. "During filming, I was in Fujimoto's state of mind, always uneasy, so much so that even in my own time I was emotionally affected. I couldn't tell which was good or bad. Personally, I feel that everyone should be allowed to live their own lives the way they wish, without being made to feel shamed. I'm not a politician but I want to convey this as much as I can in my capacity as an actor," he said, sending his message out passionately.
Director Takimoto said," There are many irresponsible politicians but the new Prime Minister has confessed that he likes manga so I hope he watches this movie and steers us in the right direction. I don't know how long he'll stay though..."

瀧本監督が麻生新総理にアドバイス…映画「イキガミ」
映画「イキガミ」（瀧本智行監督）が２７日、封切られ、東京・ＴＯＨＯシネマズ六本木ヒルズで舞台あいさつが行われた。
人気漫画の映画化で、「残りの人生がわずか２４時間」と宣告するイキガミ配達人・藤本役を演じた松田翔太（２３）は「（撮影では）藤本の不安定な思いなどで、プライベートでも藤本のように、精神的につらかった」と告白。「何が良くて何が悪いなんか決まっていない。個性を主張して一人一人が自分なりの生き方を恥じないで欲しい。自分は政治家ではないが一人の俳優として力一杯伝えることができる」と熱いメッセージを送った。
瀧本監督は「いい加減な政治家が多いが、新総理は漫画好きだと公言している。この映画を見て舵取りを間違えないで欲しい。いつ止めるか分かりませんが…」と話した。

Matsuda's birthday congratulations during Ikigami press conference
Actors Matsuda Shota (22), Yamada Takayuki (24) and actress Narumi Riko (16) attended a press conference for the movie Ikigami on the 8th of September.
In the story, Matsuda is given the task of informing people of their impending death 24 hours prior to it via a notice. What if it was he himself who received the notice ?
Matsuda said, "With my family, friends, lover and people like that around me, in a place where I feel loved, I want to die a sudden death."
As for Yamada, he said laughing, "I want to die smashed drunk. (I'm a hard drinker so) As expected, if I still have another 24 hours, I'll be alright."
In the evening, the preview was screened at the TOHO Cinema in Roppongi Hills. Matsuda who is celebrating his birthday on the 10th, was given a bouquet of flowers by Narumi. Matsuda said shyly, "I don't like (my birthday) to be celebrated, I prefer to enjoy it by myself."

「イキガミ」披露会見で松田の誕生日を祝福

俳優の松田翔太（２２）、山田孝之（２４）、女優の成海璃子（１６）が８日、都内で映画「イキガミ」（瀧本智行監督、２７日公開）の完成披露会見を行った。
２４時間後に死ぬことを告げる死亡予告証を受け取った人々の物語で、もし自分に予告証が届いたら？に、松田は「家族や友人、恋人など、愛が感じられる場所に行ってポックリと逝きたい」。山田は「酔いつぶれて死にたい。（酒豪だが）さすがに２４時間もあれば大丈夫」と笑わせた。
夜にＴＯＨＯシネマズ六本木ヒルズで行われた完成披露試写会では、１０日に誕生日を迎える松田を、成海が花束で祝福。松田は「祝われるのは好きじゃないので（誕生日は）１人で楽しみます」と照れていた。

Matsuda Shouta:
I think that mentally, I make a 180-degree turn and become a completely different person.
His name became well-known because of the drama Hana Yori Dango, Matsuda Shouta said as he looked back on it. Nishikado Soujiroh, the playboy, mood-maker, and heir to the Tea Ceremony school, oozing with elegance. When asked about his opinion on him, he immediately replied, laughing, "Rich."
Matsuda Shouta :
The character is a little like an older brother type. He is good at communicating with people. Therefore even at 20 years old, he can get some really good action (*laugh*) When it comes to Tsukasa, he adopts the carrot and stick method. When he's kind towards him, then he's really kind.
Although he's a complex character to portray, you managed to strike a balance and do it well, he fits well in F4 !
Matsuda Shouta :
This time especially, I wasn't really feeling it before I came out here. But the moment F4 got together, it becomes all glamorous and that Nishikado just starts to shine. I think that's great.
When you first read the script for the movie version, a completely original story, your impression was " It's not Hanadan anymore !" was it.
Matsuda Shouta :
So far, it has been about Tsukasa, Tsukushi and Rui's love triangle. It wasn't really about Mimasaka and Nishikado. That crux of the story has already become something in the past, so what is going to happen from now on ? When I read the script on what went on after the drama ended, I think that a new work with the Hana Yori Dango name has been born.
