Ayaka announces comeback!



Singer-songwriter Ayaka (23) has announced her comeback for 2012. Ayaka had put her singing career on hold to concentrate on treatment for Basedow's Disease. Currently, she is composing music and is scheduled to release a CD next spring under her own independent label. Making her last appearance in Kouhaku in 2009, there is also talk that she will appear as a surprise guest at this year's Kouhaku. According to her agency, the timing of her comeback is due to her condition stabilising and Ayaka's strong will to return to singing. They also stated that preparations are going smoothly for the release of her new music. As to why she is not attached to a major record label, they said the choice was made because this was the best way for Ayaka to communicate her thoughts and feelings to the fans.

Kitagawa Yuujin and Takashima Aya are married


Kitagawa Yuujin (34) from the duo Yuzu and announcer Takashima Aya (32), also known as Ayapan, sent a fax to the media on 20th October to announce their marriage. On the same day, the marriage ceremony took place at Misogi Shrine in Yamanashi. They registered their marriage in Yokohama. In the fax, they stated that they met about 6 years ago and although they were busy with work, they were able to maintain their relationship with the help of their staff and the people around them. Takashima will continue working after marriage. They plan to hold a wedding reception in Yokohoma next February. The other half of Yuzu, Iwasawa Kouji (34) got married to a non-celebrity in September.

Inoue Mao and Arashi to host 62nd Kouhaku Uta Gassen


On 19th October, NHK announced its love for Maotsujun!!! hosts for the 62nd Kouhaku Uta Gassen. Actress Inoue Mao will lead the Red Team while Arashi will be in charge of the White Team for the second year running. Inoue was selected because of the overwhelming positive response she received from television viewers in 'Ohisama'. She admitted to hesitating when she first received the offer. "It was with everyone's support that I was able to take part in Ohisama. The driving force came from what I was able to do, together with courage and hope, so I look forward to returning the favour after this one year with NHK." The theme for this year is 'Ashita wo utaou' (Sing for Tomorrow). "I think there are many people who face 'tomorrow' with anxiety because of the earthquake disaster this year, and I'm one of them. But songs bring strength and it'll be wonderful if we can face tomorrow and the future with hope." The 62nd Kouhaku Uta Gassen will air on 31st December from 7:15pm.
