Mizobata Junpei, "My Work is My Love"

On the 29th, actor Mizobata Junpei (22) attended the PR event for FOX's drama 'Terra Nova - Future Genesis' in Tokyo. He is a big fan of Steven Spielberg's science fiction works. His favourite is 'Back to the Future'. "If I ever get to work with Director Spielberg, a weak character in a comedic role would be great," he said. This year, he'll be busy with work even during the Christmas period. "I don't have that special someone. Maybe next time when my work schedule is more flexible."

On the 3rd, actor Mizobata Junpei (21) attended the 'Shinjuku-West Girls Festa' event to promote the new Odakyu store in Shinjuku. The event was targeted at ladies in their 20s and early 30s. When asked what he thought of girls, "Cute," was his answer. He continued, "Girls who are always doing their best, but then there are times when they show their weakness, that makes my heart go 'kyun'. I find that gap very adorable."

Yamamoto Yusuke and Mizobata Junpei for adidas

Actors Yamamoto Yusuke (22) and Mizobata Junpei (21) have been selected to be the image characters for the 2010 autumn / winter collection of adidas' BE Originals campaign which begins nationwide from the 27th onwards. Starting off with the sneakers, a sense of originality and fun is conveyed. Yamamoto comments, "I choose the clothes that I like based on their colours and design. With that, I show my individuality. I don't sacrifice my own style just for the sake of trend. I think that's what is enjoyable about fashion." Mizobata reveals his sense of style, "As I continue matching coordinates, I'm expressing my own personality. It's fun as I'm able to discover something new about myself everyday."

On the 27th, Mizobata Junpei (20) and Aibu Saki (24) attended the end-of-filming announcement for the movie NECK (opens 21st August) in Tokyo. The story revolves around a machine which manufactures ghosts, a 'kyun horror' movie.
Mizobata made his entrance on stage in the box, only his head could be seen. He commented later, "After filming for about a minute in the box, it was a relief being able to have a change of clothes, and seeing Aibu-san again made my heart go 'kyun kyun'."

Mizobata Junpei will make women cry?
In the variety program Haran Bakusho (NTV) where Mizobata is one of the hosts, a popular fortuneteller gave his divine insights regarding Mizobata. Mizobata Junpei is the type of guy "who'll make the girl cry", and "although he'll get married, it'll definitely end in a divorce". Listening to those harsh words, Mizobata was silent and kept shaking his head in protest. However, the fortuneteller also predicted, "If you put this guy (Mizobata) in a TV program, the audience ratings will go up."

Yusuke, Junpei & Narimiya at Spring Collection fashion show
BS-TBS, in collaboration with fashion magazine nonno, held a Spring Collection fashion show at Prism Hall in Tokyo Dome City on 14th March.
The event boasts a first of its kind in fashion shows, a simultaneous live broadcast to 3 theaters in Tokyo, Nagoya and Hyogo using 3D camera technology developed by Panasonic.
Kinoshita Yukina (22) was the MC and Sasaki Nozomi (22), with the rest of the 20 models attached exclusively to nonno, walked down the runway. Guests include Yamamoto Yusuke, Miura Shohei, Kaku Kento and Okamoto Rei from upcoming TBS drama 'Tumbling', Mizobata Junpei and Ishiguro Hideo from another upcoming TBS drama 'Shinzanmono' and Narimiya Hiroki dressed by DIESEL.

Still on Junpei. I read in 2ch that during his talk show he talked a lot about Yamapi. He refers to Yamapi as his older brother and that they used to live within 1km from each other. He said Yamapi recently moved even closer, just across the road from him. During the talk show, he was also asked which actresses he thinks are beautiful, and he named 3. So grumpy, this isn't the blind item you've been bugging me to post, but why don't you give it a shot eh? Open to everyone too.
They're all older than him and he recently co-starred with 2 of them in the same drama. The third one likes to roll around, in both drama and CM.

Tokyo Girls Collection Spring/Summer 2010
The 10th Tokyo Girls Collection took place in Yokohama Arena on 6th March, drawing a crowd of 25,000 screaming fans to the premier fashion event that introduces casual wear for the coming seasons.
21 brands were showcased by more than 70 popular models and special guests. As the models strutted down the runway in the spring/summer collection, the audience can order anything that catches their eye on the spot through their mobile phones.
The guest models were also a highlight of the event. Popular personality Becky appeared in her 'Prince on his day off' inspired look, drawing loud cheers from the crowd. IMALU modeled a jacket and bag she designed herself and Inoue Mao appeared in a pure white wedding dress.
In the second half of the show, Kato Miliyah, Koda Kumi and Shimizu Shota performed live. The 'Real Clothes Festival' lasted for more than 6 hours.

In Shibatora Special 2

On the 4th, actor Koike Teppei attended the production announcement for Fuji TV's 'Shibatora Special 2' (scheduled for broadcast in May) in Tokyo. The drama series was aired in 2008, followed by a Special episode in May 2009. On playing the baby-faced Shibata Taketora, Koike comments, "People around me are saying that I've grown old, so I wonder if it'll be alright," inducing laughter from the reporters. Once more, a new member joins - Mizobata Junpei. Both of them were winners from the JUNON Super Boy Contest Grand Prix. This will be their first drama together.

In new TBS Detective Drama 'Shinzanmono'

Abe Hiroshi (45) plays the lead role in 'Shinzanmono', a new drama by TBS which will begin in April (Sundays, 9pm). Joining him are Mizobata Junpei (20) and Mukai Osamu (28).
Based on Higashino Keigo's novel, Abe will act as popular character detective Kaga Kyouichiro. Making his first appearance for TBS, Mizobata comments on his role as the young career-driven investigator, "The original work was full of emotions, so that's what I hope the drama will convey as well." Mukai plays the son of a murdered woman, "I've read and always liked Higashino's work. It's an honour to be involved as one of the characters." Other cast members include Kimura Yuuichi (47), Sasano Takashi (61), Harada Mieko (51) and Miura Tomokazu (58).

To Star in Stage Production of R25's Moteryman

On the 18th, actor Mizobata Junpei (20) attended the production announcement of his stage work 'The Road of Smart Moteryman' at a studio in Tokyo's Roppongi. In the stage production adapted from a popular column of free magazine R25, a new salaryman is smitten by a beautiful OL (office lady) at first sight. Mizobata makes his appeal, "It's one that the ladies should watch." Yasuda Ken (36) will be co-starring. The stage play will run from 24th to 31st August at Tokyo's Akasaka Sougetsu Hall.

Nervous in his First Stage Performance

The stage play 'NECK' began on the 12th at Tokyo's Aoyama Amphitheatre, led by actor Mizobata Junpei (20).
He comments on being cast in an important role, "It's my first time in a stage play. There's a different kind of nervousness compared to the beginning of filming for a movie or drama. Since yesterday, I was tense. Today, from the time I entered the dressing room till I left it, I felt uneasy. My usual upbeat self was just gone." His co-star revealed, "Today during practice for the curtain raiser, he was so nervous he forgot about the props."
The suspense type of stage play will be followed up by a movie with the same title opening in August, also starring Mizobata. The movie has the same motif as the stage play. The cast for NECK the movie includes Aibu Saki, Kuriyama Chiaki and Hiraoka Yuuta.
The stage play NECK ends 24 February.

Abandoning the "Good Guy"?
Mizobata Junpei tackles his first Delinquent Role in a Mobilephone Drama

The Bee TV mobile drama by AVEX and NTT Docomo 'Hidamari no Basho ~Hatsukoi~' stars Mizobata Junpei, who takes on his first delinquent role. Falling in love with Mizobata in the heroine role is young actress Renbutsu Misako. Broadcasts begin from 20th January onwards.
So far, Mizobata has been cast in the 'good guy' roles. It started from 'Akai Ito', then last year he was in 'BOSS' and 'Buzzer Beat ~Gakeppuchi no Hero~'. This year, he will be in the movies 'Kimi ga Odoru, Natsu' and 'NECK'. He opens up about the challenges of being cast in a new 'bad boy' role.
Regarding his character, "He's different from the usual delinquent who likes to show-off. He doesn't feel like he belongs, but he's a young man with adult toughness with his group of friends. He's overflowing with vitality. Because there's nowhere to channel this energy, he ends up getting into fights and mischief. While playing this role, I thought that his awkwardness about not really fitting in, a trait that many youths face, should be portrayed."
Filming was completed last year in Kofu, Yamanashi. Commenting on the filming atmosphere, "There were many guys, everyday it was like being in a boys' school. They were reserved at first, there seemed to be a hierarchy-type of relationship, but once we got back to the hotel, all the guys got into the large public bath. Since then we've all loosened up. Chatting about mundane topics, and also about the drama, we had a good time," he recalls.
Youths with hearts engulfed in darkness, what will their response be? How will the fateful love end?
'Hidamari no Basho ~Hatsukoi~', begins airing on 20th January on BeeTV (5 mins x 24 episodes, new episode every Sunday).
