Horikita Maki wins Best Leathernist

Horikita Maki "I want to be a cool lady"
2nd November 2009

On 2nd November, Horikita Maki (21) and Panzetta Girolamo (47) attended an award ceremony in Tokyo to receive the 'Best Leathernist 2009' award. The award is given to celebrities who look best in leather products. Horikita who appeared on stage in a black leather jacket said,"I feel like women can be cool in this. I want to be a woman who looks good in leather fashion from now on too."

The award is given out yearly by Japan Leather and Leather Goods Industries Association (JLIA) to promote leather products. Previous winners include Tsuchiya Anna, Sato Erika and Kuriyama Chiaki. Tanihara Shosuke and Karina won the awards last year.

When asked,"Which man do you want to give leather to?", Horikita dodged the question by answering,"Let's see~". Girolamo, wearing a deep purple leather jacket, commented,"Winning the the award already made me happy but winning it together with such a beautiful woman makes me even more so. It's been 20 years since I came to Japan and I often see leather goods in places like Asakusabashi. I think the leather products in Japan are excellent. Purple is a difficult colour but it's great with leather."

Edit: Added an 'n' to the Leatherist. While squinting at the award Maki was holding, I realized it was Leathernist... although that still doesn't make much sense.

Maki looks better with the hair than Yamapi does though. ;)
