Japan Trip 2010
Day 7
Ginkakuji Temple and Kiyomizudera Temple
Took the Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka to Kyoto.
Lunch at Kyoto's Isetan, in a cafe called Mollette.
[Omelette rice with fried chicken = 1200Y]
[Omellete rice with bbq & cream sauce = 940Y]
The second and final rainy day during our trip, thank goodness. We were tired before reaching the Silver Pavilion. I'm not used to walking much, it was like a workout in the cold for me. So, before I fainted (I like to exaggerate when I'm hungry), a snack!
[Coffee and cheese toast = 650Y]
[Coffee and pancakes = 650Y]
unleash chatted with the lady who owned the store while I nodded occasionally (lol). She'd been to Singapore before and was even using the Merlion keychain, which she showed us.
Finally we arrived at the entrance of the temple, quite a long line for the tickets [500Y]. It was packed inside. So basically it's like a garden with the temple, I didn't even realise I passed by the Silver Pavilion, because it's not silver! I kept asking unleash where is it, until we came to the end of the walk (you go up, and down the steps on a hill). At the exit, these words tumbled out, "Sore dake?!" (That's it?!). Maybe because it was raining, so it wasn't as spectacular as it's supposed to be.
Most walkways for the Philosopher's Walk was closed.
Next, Fall Illumination at Kiyomizudera Temple.
Another uphill walk in the rain. This one was even more packed than the Silver Pavilion. Tickets: 400Y.
Next time, we'll go in the day. On a sunny day.

Luxury watch brand Cuervo Y Sobrinos conferred the award on the actor as the personality of the year embodying the fiery Latin spirit. Founded in 1882 in Havana,Cuba, Cuervo Y Sobrinos became known as the “Pearl of the Caribbean”, and today the watches are crafted in Switzerland. Day 6
From Tokyo to Osaka
Took the Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka.
Celebrity lookalike spotting: Jutta Yuki (aka Kiba ^^)
We had huge luggage bags with us, so it was kinda crammed. But manageable.
Bought bento boxes for lunch from the train station. There's so many shops selling food, and they also sell bento boxes in the train, so no need to worry about getting hungry!
[1200Y]
[930Y]
There were some great views out the window:
In 3 hours, we were in Osaka. Pulling our luggage bags through busy stations wasn't easy. We never knew we had such strength lol. What we noticed immediately about Osaka - bicycles. There's rows and rows of them along the streets. Gotta be extra careful walking with the cyclists around. We saw a lady in high-heeled boots and skirt with her LV bag in the bike basket cycling, very skilful!
Rested at the hotel, then out for dinner.
[800Y]
[Clam soba = 600Y]
And to celebrate our arrival in Osaka - takoyaki!
[12 takoyaki = 500Y]

Japan Trip 2010
Day 5
Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Midtown and Tokyo Dome
Lunch at a Kaiten-zushi Oedo (sushi on conveyor belt). 136Y per plate. 136Y for the miso soup too.
There were a few types of salmon nigiri - grilled, raw, shabu-shabu, marinade... ate them all :)
[15 plates + 2 miso soup = 2312Y]
Then to the nearby Ikebukuro Libro.
Promotional posters up!
There was a panel on the evolution of Hello Kitty, this one's my favourite.
Next, to Tokyo Tower. There was a long queue for the observatory, so we skipped that.
"The Japanese must eat the fish!"
Went into the mall, rested at McDonald's.
[Cappucino + McFlurry + Fries = 860Y]
The McFlurry, there were bits of chocolate cake in it - weird tasting cos they ended up all soggy. And there's no chilli sauce to dip the fries in.
unleash had taken a free newspaper, there was a feature on illuminations around Tokyo. One pic caught our attention, the one at Tokyo Dome. So we added it to our itinerary. We didn't know the train station to the dome, so we asked the girls beside us. Got our answer, said our thanks and went on our way.
Before Tokyo Dome, to Tokyo Midtown first.
Lights came on exactly at 5pm.
Aww... how romantic.
Final stop for the day: Tokyo Dome.
As we walked up the steps, I thought I heard Arashi. Didn't recognize the song (actually throughout our walk around the dome area we didn't recognize a single song lol), but it just sounded so Arashi. Then we realized why we've been seeing so many ladies (of all ages - toddlers to grannies) carrying Arashi bags, it's their concert and the goods were lined up outside in tents.
We walked from behind this panel, I thought there was a crowd because there's a screen showing snippets of the concert. No, it's just that Arashi board.
I joined the crowd too, lol.
We bought a bag [1000Y] and 2 folders [500Y each] - one of all the members and a MatsuJun one. No carrier bag, no receipt. I guess everyone's suppose to advertise that bag.
Around the dome there were girls singing along and a few dancing to the concert inside. Could hear the shrieks from inside the dome as we walked *8*
Moving away from the singing and dancing girls, we wanted to see the illuminations.
Dinner at Festa Cafe after all that walking.
[Chilli dog + Mushroom pasta + Royal milk tea + Matcha milk tea = 1620Y]
