13th September 2009
The premium event for the movie Kamuigaiden (opening on the 19th) was held in Tokyo on the 13th. The movie stars Matsuyama Kenichi (24) and Koyuki (32), and is directed by Youichi Sai (60). Koda Kumi (26) sings the theme song.
The event took place near the pedestrian malls at Shinjuku Station. For the first time, 70 metres of red carpet was spread out in Shinjuku. The cast were surrounded by about 5000 people. The event was organized by Shinjuku CineFest to lure movie-goers from the Shinjuku crowd. Matsuyama commented "I didn't think it was possible for so many people to gather in a place like this. Many thanks to those who made this location available." Director Sai spent his student days in Shinjuku. "For me, Shinjuku is youth itself. It's unbelievable to walk down the red carpet here," he said excitedly.
