21st Fuji TV Young Scenario Award

The awards ceremony for the '21st Fuji TV Young Scenario Award' was held at Fuji TV on 11th November. Kuwamura Sayaka (27) won the Grand Prize from among 1450 entries. Yamamoto Yusuke and Seto Koji who will star in the dramatization of her script 'Rinne no Ame' (Rain of Samsara) were at the assembly hall to present her with a bouquet of flowers.

'Rinne no Ame' centers around two brothers. Their mother has passed away and their father has abandoned them. When the elder brother (Yamamoto) learns that his mentally challenged brother (Seto) is regularly abused by the manager at the factory he works, he ends up killing the manager.

The two actors commented on what they thought of sensitively portraying the characters in this script dealing with a difficult issue.

Yamamoto Yusuke
"The script is deep and it would fail if emotions are not shown with care. I played my role with the hope that viewers could somehow feel some of the feelings of the mentally disabled."

Seto Koji
"Before filming began, we rehearsed countless times and also read the script repeatedly. We also prepared by watching various related footage beforehand. I think it's wonderful that this difficult theme is allowed to be handled by the young. I would be happy if this drama leaves an impression on viewers."

The drama will air this winter although a broadcast date has not been decided. Others in the cast include Kanjiya Shihori, Aoki Munetaka, Tezuka Satomi and Nagai Masaru.
