Japan Trip 2010
Day 3


Odaiba

Our favourite place in 2008. We still love it in 2010!
We bought the Yurikamome One-day Common Ticket [900Y] - for unlimited rides on the train and water taxi (limited to certain routes) around Odaiba. The boatride alone would cost 460Y, so this ticket is a good deal. To take the boat, stop at Hinode Station then follow directions to Hinode Pier on foot.



Guess what? We had the whole boat to ourselves!! Lucky~ No other passengers, so I started jumping around on the upper deck lol. It was a clear sunny day, so different from Day 2.

The boatride lasted for about 20 minutes, it'll end at Odaiba Seaside Park. We saw this...


OMG is it some drama filming? Er no film crew... OMG is it a celeb drama photo-op for a magazine? When they walked towards us, we realized they were real bride and groom lol.

We walked up, entered Decks. A Takoyaki Museum!!





Very yummy, mentaiko takoyaki.
[10 takoyaki + 1 coke = 800Y]

At Fuji TV, that blue dog appeared, and we saw Mao's drawing of her room.





Next, Venus Fort. We had lunch while waiting for illumination.

Beautiful! The light-up (at specific times) was gorgeous.





A little bit of shopping, then back to Ikebukuro. We still had time to browse around at Tokyu Hands.

Japan Trip 2010
Day 2


TBS, Asakusa and Akihabara

Weather forecast: Rain. And it rained the whole day.
First stop, Akasaka for TBS. This time we only bought one Juui Dolittle folder!






Lots of places to eat near TBS, we decided on sushi.




Tip: If wasabi burns your brain, be sure to look between the fish and the rice.

After lunch, to Asakusa's Kaminarimon Gate.
Btw, to navigate around Tokyo's subway, unleash recommends these apps: trains.jp (no connection required) and hyperdia (online).







Celeb lookalike spotting number two, Mizobata Junpei... pulling a rickshaw for tourists in Asakusa. This one by unleash. I missed it, he ran off too quickly.

There are rows of shops leading up to the temple, selling snacks and souvenirs. We ate a bag of taiyaki [500Y] (those fish filled red bean, the ones Yamapi ate in Nobuta) and a stick of dango [120Y]. They taste super on a cold and rainy day! Need a hot drink? Head to McDonalds - a latte costs 190Y.


Shopping at Akihabara, then back to Ikebukuro where our hotel was. Seibu at Ikebukuro Station is a great place to get bento meals - prices are reduced before the store closes. So shopping for dinner at 7.30pm is a good time :)

Now's the fun part... with souvenirs and bags of food, we ran to our hotel from the station in the rain lol. Swallowed a bunch of pills to shoo away fever and flu. No problem for Day 3!

Japan Trip 2010
Day 1


The last time we went to Japan was solely to watch HYDF, buy its merchandise and have a look at TV stations, lol. This time it's proper sightseeing, with more planning. We were there for 2 weeks - 5 days Tokyo, 7 days Osaka, 2 days Tokyo. We used the Suica, 7-day Japan Rail Pass and Kansai 3-day Surutto cards. I'll put prices for a few items [in Yen], just in case anyone out there is planning for a trip and need to gauge how much to save :)


Touchdown at Narita.
Me: Look! Autumn grass!
unleash: Or maybe dead grass?

While changing currencies... celeb lookalike spotting number one - Daito Shunsuke lol. There's a few of these celeb lookalikes during our trip, we're quite sure they're not the real thing.
Then two floors down to exchange for JR Rail Pass [28300Y] (opposite Starbucks) and buy Suica cards [2000Y], then back up to buy tickets for the limousine bus [3000Y]. To the hotel!

We were there by 12noon, check-in was at 2pm, so we headed off for lunch.

Checked-in, rested, then out to Ginza. We wanted to shop at the multi-storey UNIQLO there.


A bit more window shopping, then back to hotel.
